Rob Carney has taken on the role of Musical Director within the Tipperary Arts group. The Tipperary Arts Hub will be a space for musical artists also. Rob began playing music at 14 teaching himself Bodhrán, this was followed by tackling the drums and all the while singing. Over the years he has been in numerous bands both Rock and Folk. Rob plays Djembe and rhythm guitar too and has also taken up playing mandolin.
Rob has numerous recordings under his belt and as well as teaching himself to play and sing, has added to this by learning sound engineering and production in both live and studio settings.
Music of course has a rich ancient legacy in Ireland and was hugely respected with ‘musician’ being of a few occupations allowing one to travel outside of one’s own tuath or tribal land.
These days the dynamic has changed quite a bit, where once musicians were respected and people wished to listen to them, now musicians are facing a lot more challenges in live situations. They compete with televisions and mobile phones, not to mention the onslaught of AI making the artform less artistic and more generated.
Rob intends for the Tipperary Arts Hub to be a resource for musicians of all levels who wish to perform, promote themselves, teach, learn but above all come together with other artists of all kinds and establish unique experiences for everyone. It will be a place of growth and experience, of challenge and reward for all.
Music stirs everyone and is a powerful artform. The Tipperary Arts Hub will also be a very intimate venue for musicians and will host live shows and open mic events regularly.
Whether a musician or not, everyone has a voice, let us help you to find yours. Come on down to the Tipperary Arts Hub. We’d be delighted to see you.
