Inspired by the generations before her, Magui’s journey into crochet began at the age of twelve, watching her mother and paternal grandmother transform simple strands of yarn into intricate, timeless creations. Fascinated by the rhythm of the hook and the beauty of every stitch, she asked her mother to teach her the foundations of this traditional craft. Those early lessons planted the seed of a lifelong passion.

Although she later pursued studies in Fashion Pattern Making, crochet eventually called her back. Three years ago, Magui rediscovered this art with renewed purpose, expanding her skills through self-directed learning and drawing inspiration from the limitless creativity of the handmade community. What began as a return to a childhood hobby soon evolved into a deeply personal artistic practice.

Her first contemporary creations were medieval-inspired coin pouches, followed by handbags, accessories, garments, and wearable art. Each new piece became an opportunity to explore techniques, challenge her creativity, and transform ideas into carefully crafted works.

For Magui, crochet is far more than a craft—it is a language of creativity, patience, and self-expression. It is where tradition meets imagination, and where every design is refined through experimentation until it achieves the balance she envisions. The greatest reward comes from seeing a finished piece emerge after countless hours of dedication, problem-solving, and craftsmanship.

Through her brand, Sphera Handmade, Magui seeks to honour the heritage of crochet while presenting it through a contemporary perspective. Every handmade creation reflects her passion for thoughtful design, individuality, and the belief that traditional crafts continue to hold an important place in modern artistic expression.

As she continues her creative journey, Magui remains committed to exploring new techniques, embracing new challenges, and allowing her work to evolve while staying true to the values that first inspired her: authenticity, creativity, and the enduring beauty of handmade art.
